Ambassadors are volunteers with a strong commitment to the Kauffman Center who become actively involved in helping us to spread the word and elevate excitement about Kansas City’s new performing arts facility.  Ambassadors are the first self-sustaining membership group of the Kauffman Center and you're welcome to get involved.

What is a Kauffman Center Ambassador?

Ambassadors are equal parts advocate, spokesperson and cheerleader. They are trained representatives of the Kauffman Center who play many roles. Ambassadors are asked to participate in an orientation to learn about all aspects of the Kauffman Center, from the facility, to fund raising, to future programming.

Ambassadors meet three times during the year for business meetings (September, December and an annual meeting in July).  They also agree to continually educate themselves about the Kauffman Center and its three resident companies (Kansas City Ballet, Lyric Opera and Kansas City Symphony). Special guests, such as choreographers, artists and center staff, join Ambassadors to share insights and behind-the-scenes information. Ambassadors also socialize, have fun and meet new people.  Ambassadors also host an annual fund raiser to raise funds to help educate children in the arts.

What do Ambassadors do?

• Organize and act as hosts at meetings where the Kauffman Center story can be told (e.g. professional meetings, breakfast clubs, neighborhood associations, book groups).
• Participate in events, like First Fridays and Hard Hat Tours, where volunteers are needed to tell the Kauffman Center story.
• Support the development of arts outreach programs to schools and youth groups.
• Initiate and participate in fund-raising activities on behalf of the Kauffman Center.
• Operate an expert Speakers Bureau whose members speak to groups around town.
